GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to plan, organize and coordinate the financial aid programs within responsibility, to coordinate assigned activities with other departments and divisions, other colleges, and outside organizations, as well as to provide staff support to the Associate Director of Financial Aid. This position receives general direction from the Associate Director of Financial Aid and exercises no supervision.NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of: 1. Students' rights, responsibilities, and obligations regarding financial aid. 2. Applicable federal, state, college rules and regulations regarding student financial aid programs. 3. Standard office practices and procedures. Skills in: 4. Excellent customer service. 5. Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing. 6. Proficiently operating personal computer and various software, including Microsoft Office programs. Ability to: 7. Be detail-oriented. 8. Adapt to changes in rules and regulations to stay in compliance. 9. Plan, organize, and implement assigned responsibilities. 10. Work well, accurately, and efficiently at a fast pace with frequent interruptions to meet deadlines. 11. Work respectfully with students of various backgrounds under stressful circumstances to resolve sensitive/confidential issues. 12. Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials. 13. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Sedentary-Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Minimal Hazard/Exposure-Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls are in place to assure health and comfort.

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience: More than one year of professional work experience in a Financial Aid or Higher Education setting.

Special Requirements: Must be in good standing on all Federal Student Loans.
