JOB DUTIES:

As a Grant Writer, you will:

As a Grants and RFP writer with DLI, you will engage internal business stakeholders to identify needs and opportunities. This is a new position with the agency and will be located in the Office of Legal Services. The purpose is to draft grant and contract applications for internal programs to the federal government and certain private entities to fund programs. In addition, the position will develop business needs to draft Request for Proposal documents to support contract awards.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

If you are the right person for this opportunity, you will have the following knowledge, skills or abilities:

  • Exemplary written, verbal, and interpersonal skills necessary to communicate and work successfully with Department staff, board members, legislators, and Montana citizens;
  • The ability to work closely with internal business operations, to understand their needs, and to provide guidance and drafting that closely aligns to their needs for grant and contract applications and RFPs;
  • Research and identification of sources of external funds;
  • Ensure compliance with conditions of grants by monitoring and analyzing agreements, contracts, expenses, and activities;
  • Obtain and analyze project costs;
  • Review contracts to determine company actions required to meet governmental provisions;
  • Conduct periodic review of grant effectiveness.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Your preparation for this opportunity could include a combination of relevant experiences including:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • One year of directly related work experience.

OR

Any combination of equivalent experience and education to successfully perform the essential functions of the position will be considered.
