Job Type - Staff
Position Information
This is an evening position with the following work hours Sunday
Thursday 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight.
Responsibilities
- Under general supervision, performs assigned tasks within one or more library functional areas
Primary duties include:
- Process materials for interlibrary loan requests.
- Utilize library software as systems to retrieve and enter data.
- Charges and renews books and other materials for patrons using the library management system.
- Provide patrons with information and guidance in finding and retrieving library information resources.
- Monitoring library usage in assigned area with hourly statistics.
- Supervise student assistants.
- Maintain local physical collections to include preparing materials for routine identification and replacement of lost materials, and shipping and receiving processes for library materials.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
Classification
Education, Training, and Library Occupations
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Two years of experience directly related to the primary duties of the position.
- Experience in Microsoft Office products.
- Customer service experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to learn and understand library terminology and functions.
- Ability to communicate effectively to establish and maintain effective working relationships with library users and staff.
- Ability to learn emerging library methods and skills.
- Ability to operate standard library and office equipment.
- Ability to lift, transport, sort, and shelve library materials.
