Job Title: Respiratory Therapist at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health


In 2020, Virginia Mason and CHI Franciscan Health joined forces to create a new health system, Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, dedicated to providing top-quality care and exceptional patient experiences. With nearly 300 sites of care, including 11 hospitals and almost 5,000 physicians and providers, we aim to have a significant impact on the well-being of our communities.

As a result of this partnership, we are developing a patient-centered care system in the Pacific Northwest, ensuring that patients receive high-quality care close to home. From basic health needs to specialized treatments, our patients have access to leading experts and innovative technologies.


Responsibilities
  • Evaluates, administers, and documents respiratory therapy treatments for patients with heart and lung issues, including in critical care settings.
  • Sets up and monitors complex respiratory equipment for critical care patients.
  • Performs routine respiratory therapy treatments and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
  • Collaborates with physicians to determine the effectiveness of treatments.
  • Provides resuscitation services, educational programs, and maintains skill levels in respiratory care.
  • Ensures consistency in job requirements across multiple locations.

Essential Job Duties:

Performs respiratory care procedures in compliance with safety and procedural standards, continually evaluating patients' cardiopulmonary condition.

Documents all work activities accurately.


Cultural Sensitivity and Competence:

Communicates effectively and understands cultural influences on patient care.


Patient Population Served:

Displays knowledge and skills for specific patient populations.


Transfers equipment between Cardiopulmonary Departments, maintains equipment, and restocks supplies as needed.


Qualifications

Education/Work Experience Requirements:

Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy and at least 1 year of recent clinical experience in Respiratory Care.


Licensure/Certification:
  • Washington State Department of Health license as a respiratory care practitioner.
  • National Board of Respiratory Care Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification.
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required within specific timeframes.
  • Additional certifications required for specific roles.

Note: Specific timelines for certifications depending on hire date.
