The Montessori School of Alexandria is hiring an Early Childhood Education (ECE) Assistant Teacher for our Early Childhood Classroom. Our ECE Classroom educates children from 3 years of age to 6 years of age. Our ECE holds approximately 22 students. We are seeking an Assistant Teacher to work with the children for the school year and beyond.

The Montessori School of Alexandria is a private school serving approximately 70 students ages 3 years to 12 years. Established in 1970, MSA opened our Florence Lane campus to bring its unique style to an urban setting. We believe that when free, the potential of the human spirit is unlimited.

We are guides, as the young child discovers through exploration. From this foundation, the doors to independence, self-discipline, and leadership are unlocked.


With over 10,000 square feet of interior space, the school has four fully equipped Montessori classrooms: three 3 to 6 year old classrooms and one Lower Elementary classroom, outdoor play spaces and access to our 3 acre woodland area.


  • We are seeking a passionate and positive role model with a strong work ethic who actively embrace lifelong learning as well as a collaborative approach to education. The Montessori assistant will help in the classroom for 3 through 6yearold students. The classroom assistant maintains the classroom enviornment and supports the class while the teacher is presenting lessons.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years teaching experience working with young children is prefered; in a school or childcare facility
  • Reliable
  • Must be a selfmotivated, selfdirected team player that has the ability to establish and maintain wonderful relationships with staff, parents, and children
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to stand, bend, lift, and work in an outdoor playground environment for extended periods of time while supervising children
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a neat, wellorganized, and attractively prepared environment
  • Works to develop close and effective relationships with parents
  • Assists teacher in maintaning student records, reports, and evaluations
  • Collaborates daily with classroom teacher who provides direction for classroom maintenance, classroom management, and students' academic and social progress
  • Participates in all required professional development
  • Participates in the establishment and maintenance of a schoolwide atmosphere of collegial support and adherence to professional standards
  • Holds a firm commitment to uphold the school's mission
  • Attends and participates in all staff meetings
