Admitting Representative

Under the supervision of the Admitting Manager/Supervisor/Designee, the Admitting Representative is responsible for coordinating and completing all phases of the admission function, including admissions, interviews for financial and demographic information, advance directives, patient signatures, valuables collection, document preparation for admissions, revenue collection, and data retrieval. The Admitting Representative acts as an informational resource, ensuring confidential treatment of all communications.
Essential Responsibilities:- REVENUE COLLECTION
- Review and instruct patients on hospitalization information, health plan status, eligibility, and insurance details.
- Identify uninsured patients and refer them to Financial Counselors for assistance.
- Obtain necessary authorizations from insurers and calculate member liabilities.
- Promote patient satisfaction through successful revenue collection.
- Collect financial liability, document interactions, and analyze revenue data.
- Coordinate with various departments for timely patient admissions.
- PATIENT INTERVIEW/PREADMISSION AND ADMISSION
- Collect patient information for hospitalization, enter data accurately, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Abide by HIPAA regulations, provide up-to-date information, and resolve patient concerns.
- DOCUMENT AND RECORD MANAGEMENT
- Maintain accurate records of patient liabilities, prepare admission paperwork, and distribute relevant materials.
- CUSTOMER SERVICE
- Participate in problem-solving to ensure revenue targets and customer satisfaction, maintaining high service standards.
- OTHER DUTIES
- Attend training sessions, meetings, and audits as required, continually enhancing skills.
Grade 5
Basic Qualifications:Experience:
- Minimum six months of work experience required.
- Experience requirement waived for current KP Coalition employees.
Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
License, Certification, Registration:
- N/A
- Basic computer knowledge, customer service skills, and ability to multitask.
- Proficient in medical terminology, typing, and willing to work in a collaborative environment.
- Hospital/medical office experience preferred.
- Experience in revenue collection is a plus.
