Primary Role:

The Collection Specialist plays a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy of insurance details, billing procedures, and financial assistance programs for patients. Effective communication with colleagues, insurance verification, and maintaining high standards of customer service are key components of this role.

Reporting Structure:

Manager: Lead Collection Specialist

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients in resolving insurance and coverage issues
  • Update patient records and conduct benefits investigations
  • Manage outstanding balances and process insurance-related changes
  • Ensure accurate billing and timely claim submissions
  • Collaborate with the team to meet company goals
  • Adhere to payer guidelines and regulations
  • Work closely with Billing Specialists to address any changes
Required Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work effectively in a team
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with healthcare industry practices
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations for patient data confidentiality
  • Prior experience in billing insurance claims
