The Process Polymer Engineer will join the Cables Manufacturing Team of a global technology company is seeking a skilled Process Engineer specializing in the processing of polymeric materials to play a vital role in supporting our production operations.

On a daily basis, the Process Polymer Engineer must possess an in-depth knowledge of extruder design, including barrel, screw, flow diverter, and extrusion tooling for different polymers, carry out specific Polymeric Materials and Technology related cable projects with innovativeness and close coordination with cable design groups at HCS.

This person will be responsible for specifying polymeric materials, processing, and testing, and conducting polymer vendor technical audits if needed, possess the ability to independently identify and organize approaches to job responsibilities and solve polymer-related problems as they arise, and design extrusion tools, especially dies and tips, for extruding a wide range of polymers from polyolefins to costly Fluoropolymers, troubleshoot extrusion processes and other polymer processing operations, and will be responsible for polymer analysis of cable failures, discussing results with other teams, and drawing conclusions.

Additionally, this person will plan and schedule the acquisition of required polymer processing parts/lines and supplies, propose existing or potential problem areas in cable design to be investigated and offer solutions, and recognize valid experimental information and possess the necessary knowledge to make correct interpretations.

Must be local and willing to work onsite 5 days/week in Sugarland.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.
D. in Polymer Engineering, Material Science, or related field. Advanced degree preferred for Bachelor's candidates, with a focus on Polymers and Polymer Engineering.

  • Minimum 2 3 years of manufacturing industry experience, with a strong background in polymer processing.
  • High energy and drive, with a hands on approach to problem solving and an ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and manage operators and technicians to optimize production processes.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience

  • Experience with polymer extrusion is highly desirable.
  • Oil and Gas industry experience.
