EXPERIENCED CUSTOM PICTURE FRAMER

Our ideal candidate for this position is an experienced picture framer who has a thirst for working with a diverse variety of projects including (but not limited to) photos, art prints, paintings, historical memorabilia, textiles, and family heirlooms while providing exceptional customer service. Experience with fine art handling and installation is also a plus.

Locally owned in the charming Monroe Street neighborhood for over 40 years, we are a small but mighty full-service frame shop. Monroe Street Framing is the proven choice for expert framing services in the Greater Madison area and beyond, working with clients such as TREK Bike, EPIC, J.H. Findorff & Son, the Center for Railroad Photography and Art, University of Wisconsin-Madison, Duluth Trading Company, the Wisconsin State Historical Society, among many other private collectors, local businesses, and organizations.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

As a part of our experienced team, you will be working in a deadline-driven environment, handling projects that will require mastery of a wide range of framing and art handling skills. Daily tasks include: working with customers to design custom framing packages; cutting and handling various framing materials such as glass, mats, and frame stock; using Wizard, Fletcher, Hoffman, and Pistorius machinery; assisting with daily shop upkeep including checking in new materials, answering phone and email inquiries, and processing customer payments. This position requires availability of 30 to 40 hours per week (full-day shifts) during regular business hours, including rotating weekends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

At least two years of custom picture framing experience is preferred. Having an eye for detail, the ability to consistently produce high-quality work, and being able to move fluidly between customer service and picture framing are essential skills needed for this position. Basic computer knowledge (email, word processing, data entry) and point-of-sale (credit card and cash sales) are also required.

Extra consideration given to candidates with experience with custom framing software (Lifesaver, Wizard, etc.), photo editing software (Photoshop, etc.), woodworking and custom finishing skills, restoration, and art handling and installation,

COMPENSATION:

Hourly wage based on experience.
