Overview

TRC is currently looking for a skilled Roadway Inspector to bolster our team in the Northern CA area (San Francisco Bay Area).

This position involves overseeing all facets of necessary field and office construction tasks, including inspecting non-structural and structural construction operations, ensuring compliance with traffic control systems, preparing and analyzing CCOs, evaluating CPM schedules, and enforcing SWPPP regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct daily inspections and maintain thorough documentation, including daily reports covering contractor activities, construction progress, safety matters, and more.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, contractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Support Resident Engineers and offer insights on project schedules, change orders, and community engagement.
  • Interpret project plans and specifications.
  • Check construction compliance with project requirements.
  • Quantify and document installed materials following client guidelines.
  • Inspect road and bridge construction in line with Caltrans Standards.
  • Communicate with project team members and provide recommendations.
  • Perform any other assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • 2-year Associates degree in a relevant field is beneficial.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in roadway construction inspection, or 6-8+ years in general construction.
  • Understanding of construction inspection applications.
  • Knowledge of specific trades like traffic control, asphalt paving, concrete work, and more.
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards such as CalOsha, SWPPP, and other relevant agencies.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and MS Project.
  • Valid CA driver's license and willingness to travel.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Preferably, experience with Caltrans projects.
