Starting Rate: $30.79 per hour

Job Overview:

As a Freight Delivery Driver at FedEx Freight, your main responsibility will be to pick up and deliver freight between Service Centers and customers, while also supporting the selling process.

Essential Functions:

  • Operate tractor-trailer combination, including doubles and/or straight trucks
  • Perform daily pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment
  • Handle freight using appropriate equipment
  • Secure freight inside trailers
  • Complete necessary documentation and reports
  • Comply with regulations and procedures
  • Communicate effectively with dispatch and customers
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service
  • Ask for additional business from customers
  • May be required to perform chaining of vehicle tires
  • Perform other duties as necessary
Qualifications:
  • Must possess a class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • One year of recent experience or completion of FedEx Freight Driver Development Course
  • Acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
  • Meet Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements
  • Ability to count and perform basic math
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to lift/carry hand freight weighing up to 100 pounds
  • Follow instructions and complete required training
  • Work independently and as a team member
Working Conditions:
  • Drive throughout shift on all types of roads and weather conditions
  • Exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and diesel fumes
  • Handle hazardous materials following DOT regulations
  • Varying hours based on operational needs
