JOB SUMMARY:
The Residential Counselor
  • I/DD provides therapeutic residential support to adult individuals with Intellectual and Developmental disabilities.
The successful candidate will assist with daily living activities and provide behavioral support, medication management and crisis intervention in a group home setting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides support to clients in the Activities of Daily Living (ADL) and personal care needsProvides direct supervision in a group home settingAssists with maintenance and upkeep of the group home with the assistance of resident clientsPlans, leads and supervises client activitiesProvides positive behavioral supports on a daily basisProvides input into assessments, conferences and treatment planningOrganizes and supervises recreational and social activitiesCollects and records data, and completes all required documentationFollows policies and procedures for the monitoring of clients' medicationsIntervenes appropriately with clients to prevent, avert or manage crisis situations Provides transportation as needed and accompanies clients to and from appointmentsResponsible for ensuring a safe, therapeutic environment and adhering to all safety standards, Federal and State regulations, and corporate policiesEDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL &

ABILITY:

High school diploma or equivalent with one (1) year of work or life experience, ORHigh school diploma or equivalent with Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Home Health Aide (CHHA), ORBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in any human services discipline (psychology, sociology, special education, etc.)Valid and unrestricted driver's license with a clean driving recordsExcellent interpersonal and communications skillAbility to demonstrate respect for individuals with I/DD and their familiesAbility to lift 25 pounds#INDPR2EEO STATEMENTWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
