JOB SUMMARYThis position is located in the Administration Division of the Public Transportation and Parking Department within the City of Oklahoma City and is under the direction of an immediate supervisor.

The Public Information and Marketing Coordinator II must possess previously acquired knowledge and skill in developing and supervising the implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies and plans.

The position's primary responsibility is to manage the activities of a departmental work unit and staff responsible for implementing revenue and program-based marketing strategies and/or promotional plans.


Essential job functions include:

developing, planning and implementing marketing campaigns and strategies; evaluating market conditions to determine appropriate and effective marketing strategies; exchanging written and verbal information regarding departmental programs, activities and services; preparing, distributing and/or presenting press releases and public service announcements; coordinating press coverage for departmental activities and special events; developing radio and television commercials, advertising campaigns, and public announcements; reviewing and coordinating the editing and production of broadcast media; writing various reports; developing goals and objectives; and preparing and monitoring budgets and authorizing expenditures.

The position requires well-developed communications skills to maintain effective working relationships with City employees at all levels of the organization, outside agencies, media representatives, and the general public.

The employee works within broad policy and organizational guidelines, independently plans, and implements projects and reports progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings.

The work products are reviewed for overall effectiveness, program accomplishments, and soundness of judgement.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Near vision enough to read written communications. Finger dexterity enough to operate computer keyboards. Speech and hearing enough to communicate in person or over the telephone. Visual color discrimination enough to distinguish color differences or matches on slides, graphics, etc.

Strength enough to lift, pull, push, or carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds, such as audio or video equipment, etc.
