Position Overview

A Non-CDL Transportation Specialist bus driver plays a crucial role in safely transporting school pupils and clients to their destinations. As a key member of the transportation team, the driver functions under the guidance of a manager, supervisor, or dispatcher, ensuring the efficient operation of vans or buses along specified routes. In addition to school transportation, the bus driver may also cater to the travel needs of private charter trips, sometimes encountering loud and disruptive passengers and assisting students with disabilities.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate a minivan daily on designated routes, adhering to timing schedules, and facilitating the boarding and alighting of passengers at specified stops.
  • Transport school students and staff on educational outings.
  • Conduct pre and post-trip safety checks on the vehicle to confirm its optimal condition.
  • Conduct child checks after each trip.
  • Maintain order and discipline among passengers.
  • Adhere to company regulations concerning passenger management and interactions with stakeholders such as parents, teachers, medical professionals, and the community.
  • Assist in route planning and navigation by documenting turn-by-turn directions and making relevant notes for future reference.
  • Monitor route timings, stop durations, and loading/unloading processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit necessary reports.
  • Ensure cleanliness, refueling, and minor vehicle maintenance tasks.
  • Promptly report any mechanical issues.
  • Provide guidance on safe passenger behavior and conduct evacuation drills as necessary.
Essential Qualifications:

  • Possession of a valid State-Required Driver's License with a clean driving record as per company standards.
  • Completion of the current Driver Physical Examination.
  • Demonstrated expertise in operating assigned vehicles, including specialized equipment like wheelchair lifts and safety gear for passengers with special needs, under diverse road and weather conditions.
