ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

A SCAFFOLD HELPER 3 falls into the medium physical demand category and will report directly to the Lead Carpenter.
  1. Displays a positive attitude towards Safety, Quality, Policy and Procedures.
  2. Will gain the knowledge of and exercises all of OSHA, Brand and Customer policies at job site.
  3. Participates in the completion of a qualified Job Safety Plan identifying the hazards and risks and implement necessary controls.
  4. Select and use proper PPE as identified on the JSP.
  5. Demonstrate proper site preparation prior to scaffold erection, modification or dismantling. (housekeeping, etc.)
  6. Erecting and dismantling scaffold equipment as part of a crew on levels lower than 6'.
  7. Observes safe practices and use proper ladder climbing techniques.
  8. Participate in the tool box talk.
  9. Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies using proper lift technique.
  10. Putting up caution tape, flags, and hang tags on flagging.
  11. Complete other duties as deemed necessary by Supervisor.
  12. Must complete level 1 of Mentoring Program until elevated by Supervisor or Competent Person to next level.
EQUIPMENT USED TO PERFORM JOB:
  1. PPE (FRC free of holes, Hard Hat, Gloves, Safety Glasses, Safety Boots, etc.)
  2. Hammer oz.)
  3. Torpedo level (9)
  4. Scaffold wrenches.
  5. Full Body Harness.
  6. Tape Measure.
  7. Plyers (number 9)
  8. Utility Knife.
  9. Tool belt.
OTHER ASPECTS AND DEMANDS OF THE JOB NOT LISTED:

The SCAFFOLD HELPER 3 may be restricted to work on areas below 6' until they are trained on the proper techniques and use of tools. Although initially the need for a harness will not be required, after a period of experience has been gained, (will vary with each employee) a harness along with training will be issued to new apprentices with approval from Supervisor. The general requirements will include, but is not limited to the following:
  1. Receiving and returning material to scaffold yard/lay-down.
  2. Knowledge of knots for hoisting/lowering scaffold material.
  3. Knowledge of quality control checks and inspections.
  4. Knowledge of material handling techniques.
  5. Installing toe boards on scaffolds (only when deck, handrails and ladder accesses are complete) according to OHSA regulations.
  6. Perform general laborer duties which pertain to the scaffold trade.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. High school diploma or GED, preferred.
  2. Bilingual Communication preferred.
  3. Must pass Brand's skills assessment.
  4. Based on customer requirements, may be able to pass an extensive background check.
NOTE: ALL work performed must be under the direct supervision of a Competent Person at all times.

The term \"Competent Person\" is used in many OSHA standards and documents. An OSHA \"competent person\" is defined as

\"one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them\". [ 29 CFR f) ].

COMPENSATION:
  1. Hourly, Non-exempt.
  2. Rate based on project size, complexity, and candidate qualifications and may be adjusted based upon job performance.
  3. Additional compensation (per diem, safety incentives, etc.) available as per project contract.
  4. No rate, level of job assignment or duration of job is guaranteed.
