Overview:
Summer Sports Camp Lead


The YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region is searching for a perceptive and well-rounded Sports Camp Lead to teach youth the fundamentals of sports.

The Sports Camp Lead should familiarize youth with sporting guidelines, diagnose and remedy form-related issues, and provide instruction on safe, effective sporting techniques.

You should also bolster emotional functioning through coaching.

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development; healthy living and social responsibility.

Responsibilities:
Assist with the preparation and implementation of a written curriculum that is age appropriate and will provide the child with the ability to reach their fullest potential in each area of development

Supervise and participate with staff and participants during all large and small group activities

Treat everyone with dignity and respect and allow for individual differences

Provide an atmosphere of acceptance and caring for each participant and show as much individual attention as possible

Be familiar with and adhere to the program's policies, health and safety regulations, and emergency procedures and have the ability to implement if necessary

Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies

Maintain an open, friendly, professional relationship with staff, parents, and participants

Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents

Supervise all Sports Camp Program areas locker rooms and bathrooms

Complete routine and required forms to include, but not limited to: attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports

May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings, extended program hours and staff meetings

Qualifications:
Minimum age of 21

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Supervisory experience preferred

Experience with children leading recreational activities

Must possess knowledge of rules of a variety of sports and a willingness to learn other sport fundamentals as necessary
