Job Description:

CPS CVS Specialist


This role is part of the Adoption Preparation Unit, which focuses on finding permanent homes for children through adoption. You will regularly engage with children, families, representatives from different organizations, the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, and the general public.

The key responsibilities of this position include:

  • Providing ongoing support to children in substitute care to address their specific needs and work towards reuniting families or finding other long-term care solutions.
  • Initiating necessary legal actions and testifying in court to ensure the protection and permanent placement of children.
  • Documenting case records thoroughly to maintain a detailed client history.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders including CPS staff, law enforcement, judicial officials, medical professionals, and community resources.
  • Investigating reports of child abuse/neglect to determine risks to children's safety and well-being.
  • Performing additional duties as required to support unit operations.
  • Promoting and practicing cultural diversity and respect in all interactions.
  • Participating in Adoption festivals and updating necessary registrations and children's information regularly.

Knowledge Skills Abilities:

  • Understanding of agency policies and procedures.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships.
  • Proficiency in investigative techniques.
  • Experience with using a personal computer and relevant software packages.
  • Willingness to travel and attend evening community meetings.
  • Capability to work in emotionally-charged environments and conduct home visits in various settings.
