United Way is seeking a Community Research & Impact Coordinator to join United Way's Community Impact team. The Community Research & Impact Coordinator will work independently and as a member of a team to plan and execute research and evaluation projects, including designing and planning evaluations; collecting, compiling, validating, and analyzing data; providing evidence-based and data-informed recommendations to improve programming and maximize impact. The person hired for this role will be committed to delivering high-impact and actionable research and evaluation that informs, guides, and influences practice internally as well as externally.
An ideal candidate would have strong quantitative and qualitative skills, prior experience in community-based participatory research, and experience with larger scale research projects that involve evaluation design, implementation, analysis, and dissemination.
Accountability and Responsibilities
- Creates, reviews, and monitors systems that use data to provide ongoing feedback and support to partners to advance collective impact initiatives
- Supports efforts to build capacity for non-profit partners to conduct assessments and outcomes measurement, particularly for collective impact initiatives while ensuring a participatory approach with a racial equity lens
- Supports efforts to synthesize, and present research to inform initiatives and educate various constituencies about key community issues, while ensuring research is accessible to all community stakeholders
- Supports efforts to plan and implements all phases of research and evaluation projects, including design, quantitative and qualitative data collection, analysis, and reporting
- Supports data collection and infrastructure for partner organizations and agencies funded by United Way
- Supports efforts related to United Way's grants process, particularly related to development of applications, mid and end year reports, evaluation rubrics, and dashboards
- In collaboration with Director of Community Initiatives, supports AmeriCorps staff, residents, or volunteers on efforts related to the United Neighborhoods evaluation (e.g., data collection procedures, ethical methods of participant recruitment, proper storage of data)
- Proactively serve as "translator" among multiple stakeholder groups, bridging the gap between research and practice
- Centers racial justice and equity in measurement and evaluation efforts
- Works closely with representatives from the neighborhoods, nonprofit sector, and local government to ensure that all voices and perspectives are incorporated into the execution of evaluation efforts
- Collaborates with United Way staff to effectively communicate results and enhance story-telling both internally and externally
- and grows professionally through various avenues, but not limited to: online courses, in-person classes, seminars, conferences, books, etc.
- Serves as a proactive and contributing member to the United Way team, performing duties and providing support outside of the functions listed above
- Represents United Way in local and national meetings on issues relating to data, measurement, and evaluation as necessary
- Constantly learning & actively participating in programs, trainings, and discussions regarding racial inequities, exclusions, oppressions
- Appreciation of and willingness to work with and advocate for people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds
- Consistently seeks to learn and understand the specific experiences of historically marginalized racial groups in the U.S., particularly Black, Indigenous, and Latin-x groups
- Significant relevant work experience, with a focus on research, evaluation, and/or capacity building in the social-sector
- Experience tackling social-sector issues using a mix of quantitative and qualitative research and analysis techniques to assess impact and promote continuous improvement
- Skilled project manager, able to drive project scope, set and track to timelines, and effectively engage others to make progress, as well as manage across multiple projects with competing priorities
- Prior experience with Community-based Participatory Research
- Experience managing multiple projects, resources, and people with emphasis on schedules, leading teams, and managing deliverables
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a dynamic work environment, managing frequent changes, delays, and/or unexpected events
- Doctorate or Master's Degree in Social Science, Public Health, Psychology, Public Policy, Education, Social Work, or related field is preferred
- Excellent analytical and critical reasoning skills, problem-solving ability, and comfort with ambiguity
- Knowledge of data visualization (e.g., Tableau) and other analytic tools as needed
- Demonstrated experience working with large quantitative and qualitative datasets, and working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis methods and software (i.e., SPSS, R, SAS, ArcGIS, etc.)
- Strong public presentation skills
