Pharmacy Department Overview:
The Pharmacy Department at Parkwest operates round the clock, offering comprehensive medication services across the hospital, including procedural and patient care areas. Our team comprises Pharmacists and Registered Pharmacy Technicians, ensuring efficient patient care with a balanced ratio. We boast modern facilities, cutting-edge Omnicell Carousels, medication dispensing cabinets, and anesthesia workstations. Emphasizing patient and staff safety, our IV Room suites comply with Chapter 797 and 800 standards, providing thorough medication services.
Position Summary:
As a Pharmacy Technician Lead, you will work under the pharmacist's direct supervision, handling medication dispensing responsibilities. Your role extends to IV process proficiency, problem-solving, and quality improvement efforts. Strong leadership and supervisory skills are essential, including effective written and verbal communication to support departmental objectives.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accountability and performance criteria for pharmacy technicians at different levels.
- Contribute to the development of new projects.
- Facilitate intra-departmental communication and information dissemination.
- Engage in pharmacy-related community projects as necessary.
- Coordinate technician schedules and staffing to meet departmental needs effectively.
- Supervise technicians in their assigned roles daily.
- Evaluate the performance of technicians based on their levels of expertise.
- Comply with policies, procedures, safety standards, and educational requirements.
- Participate in meetings, committees, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Represent the hospital in professional and civic service organizations.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: None specified; however, must meet the standards for required licenses/certifications.
Minimum Experience: Five (5) years of experience or four (4) years with state-approved certification.
Licensure Requirement: Obtain licensure from the Tennessee Board of Pharmacy within 90 days of hire.
