As an integral part of the KBKG R&D Tax Credit team, the Tax Senior Associate will have direct access to both local and national resources with KBKG's vast network of subject matter experts all led by Kevin Zolriasatain, leader of KBKG's R&D tax credit practice. The Senior Associate will research tax issues to keep up to date on the latest changes in the tax law related to their area of specialization, conduct fieldwork from the local office or travel to client sites, and work closely with the sales and marketing team to develop new business and grow as a thought leader. The primary responsibility for this role is to drive projects from beginning to completion, while leveraging and developing staff, as well as establishing and maintaining client relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct fieldwork - Staff will conduct fieldwork specific to consulting projects. Field work could include visiting the client location, touring client facilities, investigating relevant facts, analyzing accounting information, preparing cost lead schedules and cost summary schedules, completing appropriate tax computations, and preparing written reports summarizing the findings.
  • Sales & Marketing - Staff can often assist in the procurement of business. Seniors will be made available to address technical questions as well as create relevant marketing content.
  • Travel - Some travel may be required. However, most fieldwork can be completed from the office.
  • Legal research - Tax consulting by nature requires that staff become experts in a particular field of the tax law. Staff will conduct research both in general and client specific.
  • Personal development - Staff will be required to read and study relevant tax material related to the specific line of business. In this way staff will become experts in the related field.
  • Manage workload - Staff will be required to multi-task and manage various project tasks at once. Project managers will be ultimately responsible for the overall project and deliverables. Staff are expected to initiate internal communication regarding status of tasks, relevant technical issues discovered, status of workload, expected due dates, etc.
  • Salary depends on Experience ( between 90-120k) plus bonus and full benefits
Required Skills and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two to four years of experience with respect to conducting research credit studies
  • Good communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Basic understanding of income tax theory
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office Suites.
  • Proficient in basic tax concepts.
Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Advanced degree is a plus
