Overview


The diagnostic cardiac Sonographer has a commitment to providing high quality diagnostic fetal, pediatric, and adult echocardiograms to patients with congenital heart defects and children with acquired heart defects.

The diagnostic cardiac Sonographer works independently and with other members of the healthcare team to provide a comprehensive echocardiographic examination in an ICAEL accredited, digital laboratory in an outpatient clinic setting.

Responsibilities

  • Escorts patient and family from examination to the echocardiography room and back to the examination room at completion of study
  • Explains procedure to patient and family prior to the commencement of the test to assure cooperations and optimum test results without discussing the clinical findings of the exam.
  • Follows the accredited laboratory protocol for obtaining an echocardiogram utilizing two-dimensional images, m-Mode, color flow, and spectral Doppler where applicable.
Acquires anatomical, pathological, and/or physiological data for interpretation by a physician

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
  • RDMS certified in OB/GYN
  • MFM experience a must
  • Fetal Echo registry a plus
  • Must be willing to be trained in Fetal Echo and sit for the exam
  • NT Certification a plus but not necessary.
  • Comfortable in a fast pace environment
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently
