This is a Seasonal position for the Summer 2024.

Hourly Salary $14.71

Responsible for safety and satisfaction of pool patrons through quality customer service; enforcement of pool rules and regulations and assist with general pool maintenance. This is a seasonal position with no benefits.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:

Receives direction from the Pool Supervisor and the Director of Parks and Recreation.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for safety and satisfaction of pool patrons through quality customer service.
• Provides emergency assistance such as rescue or first aid as needed in and around pool.
• Assists with general pool maintenance.
• Enforce pool rules and regulations
• Maintain organized and clean pool facilities
• Provide customer service, at concessions and admissions
• Other duties as assigned

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS:

Knowledge of:

• Operations, services and activities of a swimming pool.
• Occupational hazards and applicable safety precautions.
• CPR and general life saving techniques
• English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
• Pertinent Federal, State and local laws, codes and regulations.

Ability to:

• Accurately use life preserving equipment
• Handle and balance a cash drawer
• Interpret and apply Federal, State and local policies, laws, and regulations.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Work flexible schedule, Monday through Sunday.
• Work independently in the absence of supervision.
• Follow all safety rules and regulations of the Parks and Recreation department.
• Interpret, explain, and enforce departmental policies and procedures.
• Interpret and explain city policies and procedures.
• Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Requirements

Education, Training and Experience:

Completion of the twelfth grade or equivalent. No experience required.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES:

Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid Life Guard, CPR and First Aid Certificates.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Outdoor environment with exposure to extreme temperatures, mechanical, chemical and electrical hazards.
