Primary Purpose

Reporting to the Director of the Pacific Health Care Collaborative, this position is critical in maintaining high standards of healthcare delivery and fostering a humanistic culture conducive to student learning and professional development. Responsible for supervision, calibration, leadership, and management of the daily clinical experience of the assigned students, ensuring excellence in clinical productivity, patient care, and outcomes. Actively provides direct patient care to support the clinics mission. Provides support to the clinic managers and staff to ensure efficient and effective clinical operation.

Essential Functions

  • Lead and manage assigned students, optimizing student clinical experiences and clinic productivity.
  • Mentor, support, and evaluate students clinical progress toward academic and professional milestones.
  • Coordinate with the Clinic Coordinator for effective chair utilization and patient management.
  • Actively communicate and engage in collaborative care to promote patient-centered care through engagement with all PHCC providers.
  • Provide leadership and mentoring to clinical faculty, ensuring calibration and teamwork.
  • Participate in Group Practice Leaders meetings on Mondays with Dept Chair of Clinical oral Health (COH) and SF Team.
  • Participate in Group Practice Leaders meetings on Thursdays with the Associate Dean for Clinic Services (ADCS).
  • Manage case reviews and intervene in quality assurance processes like infection control, records management, and radiation safety.
  • Manage internal and external rotations for dental students.
  • Manage internal and external rotations for students from various disciplines (medical, OT, social work nutrition, etc.).
  • Partner with the Dental Hygiene Program Director in managing Dental Hygiene students assigned to the clinic starting January 2025.
  • Support regulatory compliances, ensuring policies are current and compliance.
  • Develop and oversee student remedial, extension, and enrichment programs in collaboration with academic leaders.
  • Conduct content development for daily huddles and coordinate content alignment with San Francisco based Group Practice Leaders.
  • Serve on committees such as Clinic Advisory, Outcomes Review, CQI, Patient Safety, and SAPPC.
  • Liaise with Department chairs to support courses, including co-direct patient and clinic management courses.
  • Support Faculty onboarding and coordinate with HR.
  • Participate in school events like White Coat Ceremony, Graduation Events, and faculty development activities.
  • Engage in a triennial 360 review process.
  • Engage in community events and undertake additional duties as assigned by the Director of the PHCC.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • DDS/DMD.
  • Valid BLS Certificate.
  • Five (5) years of work experience in a supervisory role, with increasing leadership responsibilities.
  • Two (2) years of experience working on educational processes or course direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Produce Professional and concise reports and written correspondence.
  • Analyze financial reports and make appropriate recommendations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Demonstrate professional judgment in all situations.
  • Effectively manage projects and deadlines.
  • Immediately respond to urgent matters.
  • Provide supporting information for most phases of clinical dentistry including diagnosis and treatment planning, periodontics, radiography, restorative dentistry, endodontics, oral surgery, and simple orthodontics (lnvisalign).
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:

The position requires coordination of a variety of responsible duties in stressful non-clinical and clinical situations. Work performed during standard business hours. Must be available to work additional hours every weekday and weekend.
