Job Summary:

The Providence Center Clinical Therapist - Specialty in LGBTQ+ will provide Therapy for adults of Open Doors Health Center (ODH) who have co-occurring serious mental illness (SMI) and physical health condition, or chronic disease, individuals with substance use disorder (SUD) and individuals with co-occurring disorders in order to ensure a holistic, whole-person approach is taken towards providing awareness of community, educational and economic resources available to LGBTQ+ community and other underserved populations.

Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Perform initial screening, intake and assessment, orientation, crisis intervention, counseling, screening, case management, client education, referral, treatment planning, and consultation for clients in the program.

Clinical therapist will be well versed in therapeutic modalities including but not limited to the following evidence-based practices (EBP): Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Crisis Intervention, Substance use Treatment, Relapse Prevention and Safety Training, Problem-Solving Therapy (PST), Clinical and Community Based HIV/STI Care and Prevention.

Perform a comprehensive psychosocial assessment of assigned consumers.

Apply knowledge of Psychiatric Diagnosis (DSM V).

Provide individual, group, and family mental health and/or substance abuse therapy.

Collaborate with other providers, agencies, and individuals in the consumers' network of care.

Provide education and communicate on community resources and cultural matters. Interpret both language and cultural concerns for staff and other community service providers, as appropriate. Participate in in-service training and skill development activities within TPC and ODH.

Perform record keeping in accordance with Health Information Services and other Center requirements.

Attend trainings, case presentations and conferences.

Maintain cooperative relationships with Center staff, consumers, community agencies and the public.

Serve on appropriate Center committees.

Provide mental health consultation to other community agencies.

Master's degree in Human Services, Social Work or related field and Clinical experience.

LICSW and/or LCDP and/or LMHC required.

Experience in cross-cultural education, training, and consultation required.

Experience working with diverse populations, specifically LGBTQ+ and other underserved populations.

Experience with Rhode Island substance abuse system and its network agencies.

Awareness of the general trends in confronting the problems of substance abuse.

Interest in working in a primary care clinic with medical staff strongly encouraged.
