ARegistered Nurse Resident will become a part of our family andexperience one of the most inclusive, well-rounded, and prosperoustraining programs. You will work alongside seasoned nurses who areeager to educate and coach new graduates. TheMedical Telemetry Unit provides care to adult patients, including alarge geriatric population, with a wide variety of acute andchronic medical conditions. Our patients often present conditionssuch as congestive heart failure, atrial fibrillation, pneumonia,diabetes, sepsis, gastrointestinal bleed, rule out myocardialinfarction andangina.

H80nurses are hired onto a 6-week rotating schedule of Day (7a-730p) /Night (7p-730a) shifts. Every other weekend, and every otherholiday rotation isstandard.

Responsibilities:

  • Participatesin a residency core curriculum based on their individual learningneeds.
  • Provides directnursing care, alongside a coach, in accordance with establishedpolicies, procedures and protocols of the healthcareorganization.
  • Establishesand/or revises priorities for patient care activities based on thefollowing: acuity of need, patient preference, and resourceavailability.
  • Initiatesand/or maintains interventions to assure continuity ofsafe/effective care forpatients.
  • Responds to dataindicating risk to individual's health and initiates action tocorrect, reduce, or prevent therisk.
  • Seeks supervision,consultation, assistance when unable to perform safely andindependently.
  • Complies withestablished hospital/department personnelpolicies.
  • Uses communicationstrategies in order to achieve desirableoutcomes.
  • Documents inpatient's medical record according to establishedguidelines.
  • Other duties asassigned.

Education:

  • Graduate from anaccredited school of professionalnursing.
  • BSNpreferred

Certifications:

  • Currentstate licensure as Registered Nurse(RN).
  • Proof of Basic LifeSupport (BLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) must bepresented upon hire.
  • If in aCritical Care area an Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) throughAmerican Heart Association (AHA) Certification must be presentedupon hire or within first year ofemployment.
  • Within one yearof hire RNs in Children's Hospital and Children's Hospital forRehabilitation will achieve and maintain Pediatric Advanced LifeSupport (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) with theexception of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit RNs who must achieveand maintain Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through AmericanHeart Association (AHA) provider status and RNs in the SpecialDelivery Unit, who must achieve and maintain Advanced Cardiac LifeSupport (ACLS) through American Heart Association(AHA).
  • ONSChemo/Bio course completed within two years of hire if employed onunits where chemo isadministered.
  • Ifin an Adult/Combined EDs, ACLS upon hire or within one year ofbeginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.
  • If in an ED,Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American HeartAssociation (AHA) upon hire or within one year of beginning work inthe Emergency Department.
  • InDedicated Trauma Centers, Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC - adult)or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC - pediatric) upon hire orwithin 24 months of beginning work in the EmergencyDepartment.
  • Any registerednurse or advanced practice nurse must obtain a cancer specificcertification or demonstrate ongoing qualifying education withinthe timeframe of the facilities accreditation cycle, if they workin medical oncology, radiation oncology, cancer centeror cancer clinic and/or administer chemotherapy within anaccredited Cleveland Clinicfacility.

Complexityof Work:

  • Must be able towork in a stressful environment and take appropriateaction.

WorkExperience:

  • Newgrad or less than one year RN work experience or if experience RNmoving from non-inpatient to acute direct care clinical inpatientsetting with less than one year current acute direct patient careRNexperience.

PhysicalRequirements:

  • Requires fullrange of body motion including handling and lifting patient, manualand finger dexterity, and eye-handcoordination.
  • Requiresstanding and walking for extended periods oftime.
  • Requires correctedvision and hearing to normalrange.
  • Requires workingunder stressful conditions and irregularhours.
  • Exposure tocommunicable diseases and/or bodyfluids.
  • Medium Work -Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10pounds of force constantly to moveobjects.
  • Physical Demandrequirements are in excess of those for LightWork.
