Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer NS&E

Job Title - Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer NS&E

Full-time Office/Project

No Remote/No Telework

US Citizenship Required

Project Overview

Our Client is a global engineering, construction and project management company that has "built the world" for more than 120 years, having constructed Hoover Dam, the English Channel Tunnel, entire cities in the Middle East, the second-largest solar thermal power project in the world, and millions of miles of roads and pipelines.

We produce a lasting, positive legacy by creating jobs, growing economies, connecting communities to resources, shoring up and expanding infrastructure, and making the world a cleaner, greener, safer place.

Join us as we make history at the Hanford Vit Plant, known as the Waste Treatment and Immobilization Plant.

We are designing and building a one-of-a-kind facility that will turn radioactive and chemical waste left over from World War II and Cold War plutonium production into a form safe for disposal.

Your efforts will help protect the nearby Columbia River and the communities, salmon, and wildlife along its shorelines throughout the Northwest.

Sitting at the confluence of the Columbia, Snake and Yakima rivers near two mountain ranges, our community provides access to year-round outdoor recreation, 300 days of sun a year, more than 200 wineries within a 50-mile radius, and the amenities of large cities just a three-hour drive (or short flight) to Seattle and Portland

Position Summary

You will be working as part of the Mechanical Handling team designing the areas of material handling equipment, treatment and vitrification systems, and/or supporting utilities.

You will be preparing technical reports, studies, procurement documentation, and design documentation, performing calculations using engineering software, and supporting systems.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in mechanical handling design and will be capable of developing design documents and procurement documents, including Specifications, Material Requisitions, Mechanical Handling diagrams, Mechanical Flow diagrams and equipment data sheets, that incorporate the applicable design requirements, including nuclear safety requirements.

You will be interfacing and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and the client in the development of the design.

Responsibilities

The primary role of the Senior Mechanical Handling Engineer is to plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work for a global business unit usually in one discipline in a project or staff group.

Must have the ability to work independently, use engineering judgment, and devise new approaches to solving problems.

Perform work that involves conventional engineering practice but may include complex features such as resolving conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials and/or difficult coordination requirements.

Perform work using Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs) and appropriate 2-D and 3-D computer-aided design and computer-aided engineering (CAD and CAE) tools.

Prepare and/or assist in the preparation of cost estimates, quantity take-offs and staffing requirements for proposals, forecasts and change orders.

Review and disposition of field change notices, non-conformance reports, and condition reports.

Support the creation of a work environment that fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction.
