The Medical Assistant role entails aiding the healthcare provider at an outpatient clinic in organizing patient visits and procedures, conducting routine lab tests, managing referrals, and ensuring quality outcomes for the practice's patient population. As a Medical Assistant, you will also be involved in Network quality projects focusing on implementing best practices.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • Diploma from a Medical Assistant program OR a high school diploma coupled with at least 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant in a physician's practice.
  • Completion of Medical Assistant certification within 6 months of employment
  • Preparation of examination rooms and treatment areas for patient use, including ensuring cleanliness and adequate supply levels
  • Rooming patients and managing the provider's caseload effectively
  • Obtaining necessary vital signs, performing EKGs, and/or collecting specimens
  • Documenting care using the EPIC EMR system
  • Conducting Point of Care Testing based on the patient's primary complaint and established protocols
  • Handling referrals and prescription refills
  • Cultivating positive relationships with patients, providers, and colleagues
