Patient Access Representative- Cardiology Clinic

Under the guidance of management, you will be responsible for handling the patient registration process. This involves confirming benefits, discharging patients, collecting copays, balancing accounts, and entering data.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service and Patient Satisfaction:
- Deliver exceptional customer service, contribute to overall patient satisfaction, and adhere to the Behavioral Expectations Agreement.
- Handle incoming calls promptly, respond to inquiries from patients and staff.
- Refer patient accounts to financial counselors for further clarification when necessary.
- Show willingness to support colleagues, enhance department efficiency, and achieve positive customer feedback goals.
- Engage in ongoing process improvement initiatives for the team.
- Be flexible to work in different areas as needed and be available during nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours.Registration/Admitting/Discharge of Patients:
- Register, schedule, reschedule, and discharge patients according to guidelines.
- Update patient records, ensure completeness of electronic health records, verify insurance eligibility, and obtain pre-authorizations.
- Obtain required information and signatures, manage co-payments, deductibles, and allowances.Patient Processing:
- Balance daily cash accurately, prepare bank deposits, and reports.
- Utilize insurance eligibility tools, report, and rectify variances in the EMR.
- Meet quality performance goals and collect co-pays, deductibles, and secure deposits.
- Verify insurance eligibility, obtain pre-authorizations, and work flexible hours when necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills.
- Proficient in using various technological resources such as phones, computers, software programs, and office equipment.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Minimum of 1 year in customer service or office setting.
Preferences:
- Previous experience in healthcare registration, scheduling, or authorizations.Special Position Requirements:
Exposure Category II: Possible exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues, but not a routine occurrence.Work Requirements:
- Able to perform physical tasks such as reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, walking, and sitting for the entire shift.
- Proficient in using telephone and computer systems for most of the workday.
