Welding involves the use of heat to permanently fuse metal parts, facilitating the repair and construction of metal structures, machinery, and equipment.

Welders are categorized based on their training and the types of welding machines they are proficient in.

Experienced welders are adept at utilizing various welding machines such as arc welders, TIG (Tungsten inert gas) welders, and MIG (Metal inert gas) welders.

Position overview - Duties, responsibilities, skills

  • Welders fabricate and construct metal structures and equipment using welders, cutters, formers, and measuring instruments.
  • Welders manufacture metal goods in accordance with customer or employer specifications.
  • They utilize multiple welding machines for the maintenance and repair of metal equipment and structures of different sizes
  • Welders interpret diagrams, sketches, and blueprints to ascertain operations, necessary materials, and project timelines
  • Welders set up, operate, and upkeep welding machinery
  • They adhere to personal and company safety protocols by wearing specialized goggles, helmets, and gloves.
  • Effective communication skills are pivotal for collaborating with team members and engaging with clients.
  • Welders operate and maintain machines for repairing metal structures, equipment, and machinery.
  • Welders are certified for various processes and positions in a range of fields based on their expertise and experience,
