The PGA of America is moving to Frisco, Texas - the "2018 Best Place to Live in America" - where it will anchor a 600-acre, mixed-use, golf-centric development, including the golf club, future Omni resort and PGA headquarters.

Currently under construction, the golf club will feature two championship golf courses, a 10-hole short course, a two-acre putting course and a 37-acre practice facility.

The future two-story clubhouse will offer golfers and guests alike a 19th hole restaurant, private dining on the second floor overlooking the fairways, upscale lounges and locker rooms and a golf shop designed to entice all levels of fans from PGA tournament players to weekend golfers and other enthusiasts.

Job Description

The equipment manager is responsible for managing the equipment maintenance operations for the Golf Course Maintenance department. This individual oversees all aspects of the equipment fleet and maintenance facility.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain a preventative maintenance program for each piece of equipment used in the golf course maintenance operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining proper parts inventory levels for all equipment assets.
  • Work closely with the Golf Course Superintendent in developing an annual operating budget for equipment maintenance.
  • Repair of failing equipment, keeping records of parts and labor needed to maintain each piece of equipment.
  • Place orders for parts and supplies needed for equipment or service. Procure bids for all replacement parts and or service work performed outside of the maintenance operations (contract work).
  • Work closely with the Lead Assistant Superintendent and Golf Course Superintendent in properly communicating any needs or problems relating to equipment needs.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance area is kept clean and organized to provide a safe working environment for departmental staff. Places safety as a top priority as it relates to proper mechanics of each piece of equipment. Will assist in making sure that all equipment is kept clean and is in safe working conditions at all times.
  • Work with Lead Assistant Superintendent to prioritize equipment repair and maintenance work when needed as it relates to golf course agronomics.
  • Will be responsible for checking equipment on the golf course and work closely with superintendents as equipment maintenance needs arise in the field. It will be necessary to spot checks equipment for performance on the course, frequently makes emergency repairs to equipment on the course, and services or supervises servicing of equipment prior to use.
  • Responsible for protecting tools and company assets through inventory programs.
  • Working weekends will be a requirement of the position per work schedule. Overtime and odd hours may be required during season with prior notification. Overtime is a general condition of working at the facility of between 4 and 8 hours weekly.
  • The employee will be informed of onsite hazards and the properties concern for staff welfare and protection. Personal Protective Equipment will be provided and documented as required for the position.
Qualifications

  • Two-year certificate from a college or technical school; or three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience within the golf course industry.
  • Valid Driver's License with related mechanic, technician certificates a plus.
  • Ability to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk and hear
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
