Essential Job Duties

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation:
This is a safety/security sensitive position for purposes of the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment.

  1. Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers, maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
  2. Responsible for supervising and instructing participants in the Yvonne Richardson Community Center Summer Camps in a safe and friendly environment.
  3. Report to work promptly as scheduled with proper attire and be ready to supervise camp participants thirty (30) minutes prior to the start of camp.
  4. Assist in organizing and implementing activities for camp participants.
  5. Monitor camp participants at all times.
  6. Assist with the set-up and tear-down of all camp related activities.
  7. Instruct and lead participants through daily activities
  8. Be alert, professional, courteous and always tactful.
  9. Respond to any injured participant with proper first aid care and complete paperwork regarding accidents.
  10. Interact with and supervise campers in a manner which protects their health and well-being.
  11. Attend staff and training sessions as required.
  12. Provide general facility supervision and customer service for all YRCC programs, events, participants and facility patrons during scheduled and unscheduled events.
  13. Assist in the administration of the YRCC office including but not limited to performing general data entry and accurate record keeping, assisting with camp registration, annual memberships, contract agreements, facility rentals, incident reports, accident reports, volunteer and community service applications and delivering program information (i.e. programs details, updates, scheduling, etc.).
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
  1. Education and/or experience providing public service to children in recreation, community-based programs, physical education, or a closely related field preferred.
  2. Must successfully pass criminal background check, including but not limited to convictions, guilty pleas, or no contest pleas to violent offenses, theft offenses, offenses against children, and any offense that would qualify to prevent a person from obtaining an Arkansas teaching certificate (A.C.A
  3. CPR and First Aid Certification preferred.
  4. Must be able to work independently and exercise sound judgement.
  5. Effectively communicate with others orally and in writing.
  6. Must be proficient in the use of a computer and related software programs and be able to effectively operate standard office equipment.
  7. While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
