Teamwork is essential at our Delis, where our team members collaborate to ensure accurate orders, quick meal preparation, and friendly customer service. As a Schnucks Deli Clerk, you play a crucial role in delivering top-notch customer service and maintaining product quality. Our stores rely on Deli Clerks to prepare fresh sandwiches and salads for customers looking for a satisfying meal.

Job Responsibilities
- Provide friendly and courteous service to customers in person and over the phone
- Maintain a positive work environment
- Ensure cleanliness of the work area, equipment, deli cases, and backroom
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Follow proper personal hygiene requirements
- Maintain time and temperature controls
- Implement good food handling practices to prevent cross-contamination
- Follow sanitation principles
- Wear company-approved slip-resistant shoes at all times
- Practice safe lifting procedures, capable of lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Operate powered equipment safely after training
- Understand and follow safe handling procedures for knives and sharp utensils
- Slice and weigh lunch meats and cheeses, ensuring customer satisfaction
- Enhance product knowledge, suggestive selling, and product sampling
- Fill, rotate, and date products in the display case
- Operate meat and cheese slicers, scales, and wrapping equipment
- Utilize cooking equipment such as fryers, ovens, and steamers
- Prepare sandwiches, party trays, salads, and special orders following company recipes
- Ensure product freshness, rotation, and presentation
- Assist with product production, packaging, and restocking
- Multi-task and prioritize customer satisfaction
- Maintain regular attendance
- Assist with assigned duties
- Offer product samples to customers
- Adhere to safety, health, and weight regulations
- Answer the phone and handle special orders courteously

Physical Demands
A Deli Clerk's duties primarily involve activities in the Deli department, including bending, stooping, kneeling, and lifting products up to 50 lbs. The role also includes repetitive movements, exposure to temperature changes, and extended periods of standing and walking.

Other Job Requirements
- Minimum age of 18 years
- Basic math skills
- Flexibility to work nights, holidays, and weekends
- Use of hair restraint and clean uniform
- Safe use of knives and protective gloves
- Wear slip-resistant shoes
- Ability to identify damaged products
- Food preparation experience preferred
- Team player with a passion for customer service
- Attention to detail and safety

Additional Requirements – Internal candidates:
  • Store/Facility Teammates: minimum of six months employment with Schnucks.
  • Store Support Center Teammates: minimum of one year employment with Schnucks.
  • Good standing without performance issues
  • Manager approval required for interviews based on performance
