We are currently seeking a full-time EXPERIENCED Veterinary Technician or Credentialed Technician for our very busy, small animal veterinary hospital (dental, surgery, and anesthesia knowledge a must).

Ideal technical skills for our Experienced Veterinary Technician and/or Credentialed Technician would include, but not be limited to:

  • Obtain clear, organized, and concise patient history from clients in a cheerful, efficient manner, and accurately relay to the doctor.
  • Monitor animals recovering from surgery and notify veterinarians of any unusual changes or symptoms
  • Administer anesthesia to animals, under the direction of a veterinarian, monitor animals' responses to anesthetics so that dosages could be adjusted.
  • Have the ability to problem solve, multitask, and be able to pivot depending on what comes in the door.
  • Venipuncture & Radiography
  • Perform tasks and duties in a safe manner while keeping the hospital safe for clients, patients, and staff.
  • Serve the needs of clients and patients with a caring, cheerful, professional manner.
  • Document all client interactions in a clear, concise manner using our veterinary software
  • Perform dental work, such as cleaning, polishing, dental xrays, and possibly extracting teeth
  • Excellent, GENTLE restraint techniques for both dogs and cats.
  • Assist veterinarians in examining animals to determine the nature of illness or injuries.
  • Provide compassionate care for patients
  • Fill/approve prescription medications.
  • Administer medications and immunizations as directed by a veterinarian.
  • Keep the hospital clean, sanitary, and in an odorfree state, both inside and outside.
  • Collect laboratory specimens, such as blood, urine, and feces, for testing.
  • Answer phone calls, schedule appointments, and perform patient callbacks.
  • Physical strength to lift, carry and restrain large dogs. Must be able to lift over 35lbs. The ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Educate or advise clients on animal healthcare, nutrition, or behavior problems, and collect patient history.
We have very high expectations for our employees and this is a very demanding position. We expect you to take initiative and keep busy at all times, even when the schedule is light.

Knowledge of Cornerstone would be very helpful, as is the ability to type quickly and accurately, as our records are computerized.

The salary range for this position is $22-$25/hr. Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, and experience.
