Summary:

The skilled Nurse practices independently, demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of situations and provides routine and complex care. The nurse also focuses on long-term goals and plans. The professional continues to enhance coping abilities and manage contingencies in clinical nursing, making suitable assignments and delegating to other care providers to help manage the clinical setting.

Our hospital, in partnership with Baylor College of Medicine, is the sole academic children's hospital in San Antonio, providing specialized services to meet the medical needs of children worldwide. From Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care to specialized programs like deformities treatment, Heart Center, and Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, we strive to offer holistic care.

Responsibilities:


- Meets OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

- Provides nursing care following the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation.

- Addresses complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families.

- Administers medications and treatments following protocols, monitors effectiveness and side-effects.

- Documents patient history, symptoms, medication, and care provided.

- Assesses learning needs, offers education to patients, family members, and caregivers, and identifies resources.

Requirements:

  • Associate's Degree in Nursing
  • One year nursing experience preferred.
  • Current Texas State RN License or Compact RN License
  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • ACLS required for experienced RNs, must obtain by end of clinical orientation for new graduates.
  • PALS required for experienced RNs, must obtain by end of clinical orientation for new graduates.
  • Completion of crisis intervention training within 12 months of hire/transfer.
  • TNCC required for experienced RNs in trauma facilities, must obtain within 6 weeks for new graduates.
