Overview:

The HMDA Analyst assists the lending teams with monitoring, reviewing, updating and preparing monthly HMDA/CRA reports, submitting on a monthly, quarterly and/or annual basis. The HMDA Analyst demonstrates a full understanding of current reporting requirements for HMDA and CRA

The HMDA Specialist also assists in identifying gaps and educating the lending teams concerning HMDA, CRA and Fair Lending.

Responsibilities:
  • Be a subject matter expert regarding HMDA regulations, for all lending areas, assist with questions and/or issues, strong ability to apply regulatory changes to loan operations.
  • Knowledge of Fair Lending laws, regulations, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of CRA regulations and requirements.
  • Facilitate the collection of HMDA data from mortgage, consumer, and commercial lines of business on a regular and timely basis.
  • Develop, document, and execute applicable review and/or audit test samples independently or in conjunction with the Compliance team.
  • Works with the lending areas to ensure all HMDA regulatory requirements are met.
  • Review loan application data, for all 3 lending groups, for accuracy and consistency in line with the HMDA/CRA requirements.
  • Review accuracy of the data collected and required to be reported on loans originated to small businesses and small farms.
  • Conduct monthly HMDA/CRA data integrity reviews on all HMDA/CRA reportable files, communicate findings and make recommendations to the lending managers for remediation.
  • Proactively communicate exceptions, errors, or other concerns to the applicable line of business for review and resolution during internal and external reviews.
  • Ensure all loan files are properly documented and the correct decision has been made.
  • Maintain knowledge of HMDA regulations including emerging regulatory updates relating to lending.
  • Prepare HMDA LAR on a monthly basis for the lending managers and on a yearly basis for submission to the FFIEC. HMDA data should be complete and accurate and extracted from the loan originations systems, where applicable, and submitted to HMDA WIZ.
  • Prior to submission of the annual LAR participate in a year end data scrub.
  • Review loans that are coded not reportable for accuracy.
  • Work with systems manager when data is not correct due to system errors/issues.
  • Assists in the updating of HMDA policies and procedures and provides guidance to all lending colleagues.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professionalism and integrity in all internal and external interactions.
  • Communicates professionally in oral and written format with internal and external customers.

OTHER ACCOUNTABILITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs related and unrelated duties as may be required.
  • Participate in Compliance reviews, ad-hoc projects and training efforts, as required.
  • Attend training(s) to stay current on regulatory changes.
Qualifications:
  • High school or its equivalent plus specialized course work and training.
  • At least two years of experience in regulatory compliance including HMDA compliance.
  • A demonstrated understanding of commercial, consumer and residential loan procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Proven organizational, oral and written communications, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as on a team.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Windows, Word, Excel and Desktop Underwriter, CRA WIZ and Mavent, Encmpass.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Performs work within established guidelines and according to specific procedures. Refers problems to immediate manager.
