In this role, you will receive and process specimens following standard protocols, conduct laboratory tests and calculations, perform quality control procedures, maintain laboratory equipment, and carry out phlebotomy procedures. You will also ensure confidentiality of patient information.


Education

  • Required - High School diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred - Associate's degree

Work Experience

  • Required - None.
  • Preferred - Experience in hospital or clinic laboratory testing

Certifications

  • Required - Current license or temporary license as Clinical Laboratory Scientist-Technician in the state of practice. Meets CLIA and CAP requirements. ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
  • Completion of ASCP's Certification Maintenance Program for those certified after January 1, 2004.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Must possess necessary computer skills for data entry and retrieval.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Windows applications and role-specific software.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Job Duties

  • Perform specimen testing.
  • Ensure quality performance.
  • Adhere to regulatory compliance guidelines.
  • Maintain competency.
  • Adapt behavior to patient population needs.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
