Ciena Healthcare is seeking a **Maintenance Director** in Galesburg, Michigan for the role of a **Maintenance Worker/Assistant**. Reports to: Maintenance Director or Environmental Services Director POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Worker/Assistant carries out various duties to ensure a clean and safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors, following facility policies and regulations. This role is crucial in enhancing resident comfort and improving their quality of life. QUALIFICATIONS Education and/or Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in maintaining physical plant and equipment in an institutional setting.
  • Vocational training in a skilled trade or relevant field is a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Minimum Qualifications:
  • Compliance with drug and alcohol policies.
  • Pass state and federal background checks.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Proficient in mechanical and technical concepts for repair and maintenance projects.
  • Maintain essential equipment in optimal condition.
  • Ability to interpret safety codes and standards.
  • Uphold facility mission and values.
  • Respect residents' rights and privacy.
  • Knowledge of emergency procedures within the facility.
The job involves a range of duties from mechanical repairs to emergency response, ensuring the facility operates smoothly and safely for residents and staff. LANGUAGE SKILLS Must have good communication skills in English, both written and verbal, to engage effectively with colleagues, residents, and families. REASONING ABILITY The ability to solve practical problems and handle various tasks efficiently is essential for this role. INTERPERSONAL SKILLS Demonstrate active listening, maintain good relationships, and follow appropriate channels for issue resolution. CONTINUING EDUCATION Participation in continuing education programs and in-services is encouraged. RESIDENT RIGHTS Respect and protect residents' rights, dignity, and belongings, adhering to professional standards. INFECTION CONTROL Follow infection control procedures, understand safety protocols, and maintain personal hygiene standards. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Basic math skills for measurements and calculations are required. INFORMATION MANAGEMENT Basic computer knowledge is essential for data entry and protection of resident information. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment may involve exposure to various elements like chemicals, but measures are in place for safety. ENVIRONMENT OF CARE Understand and participate in emergency procedures and safety precautions to ensure a secure environment. CORPORATE COMPLIANCE Report any issues affecting resident care to the Administrator or Corporate Compliance Officer. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The role may require physical activities like lifting and standing, needing individuals to be physically fit.
