Dental Patient Coordinator

U.M. FDSP Associates is the organization that provides patient care focused staffing for the clinic operations so that faculty and students may provide patient care to the general public.
We offer paid vacation, sick leave, personal days, and 12 Federal paid holidays. Additionally, we offer medical, dental, vision, short term disability, long term disability, and life insurance benefits. We also offer 401K with an employer match up to six percent. Hours of operation are Monday thru Friday with no weekends.
SUMMARY:
Provides dental patient support services that are both efficient and caring. Acts as a liaison between clients, dental faculty and dental staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Acts as a dental patient advocate, acquainting patients with policies and procedures relevant to their care and helping them navigate the system as necessary. Provides excellent customer service to internal and external calls regarding information, treatment and special needs. Responds to patient concerns and forwards concerns to program director as necessary.
Provides individualized coordination of care; when necessary, reviews chart to monitor patient clinical progress. Enter relevant information into AxiUM software system.
Assesses outcomes of care; analyze complaints to determine trends. Surveys patients via questionnaires; surveys dentists to determine how we can better serve our referring dentists. Resolve complains and personnel issues, inter- and intra-departmentally.
Establishes and manages patient recall system.
Schedules and facilitates screenings for specialty treatments. Coordinates with outside referrals and outside patients so accommodate special requests and requirements.
Coordinates necessary activities for patients scheduled for sedation and general anesthesia.
Assists students with patient management.
Serves as a team leader in coordinating complex cases among providers and specialty clinics.
Develops and maintains databases used to collect and analyze data.
Monitors and evaluates program operating policies and procedures. Maintain Program letters.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum associate degree and two years experience in a health care field, preferably in clinical dentistry. Registered Dental Hygienist licensure by the State of Maryland preferred. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Knowledge of enterprise-wide computer applications.

Skilled in applying basic analytical skills to problems where clear precedent may not exist.
Skilled in organizing and executing multiple assignments under specific time constraints.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and tact.
Ability to interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures to everyday situations.
Ability to establish and evaluate clerical methods and procedures.
Ability to negotiate resolution to scheduling and procedural problems.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships.
ADDITIONAL CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Incumbents must be available as dictated by the business needs of the programs.
