Position Overview:

AECOM is in search of Traffic Monitoring Dispatcher(s) situated in Orlando to work with the Florida Turnpike Enterprise. The starting wage for this role will be $18.54 per hour.
The responsibilities of a Traffic Monitoring Dispatcher include utilizing various software platforms and web-based applications to carry out diverse tasks.
Traffic Management Center (TMC) Dispatchers are responsible for employing Advanced Traffic Management Systems (ATMS) software to oversee state roads, manage events/incidents, dispatch incident management personnel, handle public inquiries, and foster effective communication with various stakeholders.
ABOUT THE ROLEThe TMC located in Orlando, FL, operates a 24/7/365 program responsible for incident management, dispatching, and traveler information services for Florida's road network.
AECOM's operational team works in shifts at the TMC site, continuously monitoring and responding to evolving traffic conditions while maintaining direct communication with motorists, first responders, FDOT personnel, and mobility stakeholders.

The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

TECHNICAL
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Utilize software and applications to monitor Intelligent Transportation Systems devices along freeways
  • Track events impacting traffic flow and safety using software applications
  • Dispatch safety service patrols and provide directions to the location of traffic events
  • Monitor weather conditions and update agencies accordingly
  • Coordinate with various agencies for effective traffic management
  • Update information on traveler information websites
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of assets and equipment

COMMUNICATION
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Engage in effective communication consistent with customer service expectations
  • Communicate with road rangers and local agencies to manage traffic incidents
  • Provide information and assistance to motorists
  • Interact with law enforcement, ambulance, and fire department personnel
  • Document activity and communication clearly

Qualifications*Minimum Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Capable of monitoring transportation systems for extended periods
  • Proficiency in operating software platforms and web-based applications
  • Pass state and federal background checks and drug screenings
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in call center or customer service roles
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain high customer service standards
  • Ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Knowledge of Florida's road network and efficient data entry abilities
