Job Description

SUMMARY :
The Dropout Prevention Specialist will play a vital part in supporting our students and reducing dropout rates.

You will work with at-risk students to identify challenges and develop plans to help them stay engaged in school and achieve their academic goals.

Additionally, you will work with other educational institutions to obtain required documentation toward NCVA's cohort graduation rate.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

Collaborate with school staff to identify students who are at risk of dropping out;Meet with students and their families to understand their individual needs and barriers to success;Develop and implement individualized plans that may include academic support, social-emotional learning, mentoring, or referrals to community resources;Design and implement creative programs and strategies to improve student engagement and academic achievement;Monitor student progress and adjust plans as needed;Build positive relationships with students and families to create a strong support network;Stay up to date on best practices in dropout prevention strategies;Track and report on data related to dropout prevention efforts;Work with the Operations Supervisor, Head of School, and administrative team to develop improved procedures that address dropout.


Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no formal supervisory responsibilities

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED) Certificate ANDThree (3) years of dropout prevention experience OREquivalent combination of education and experience

None required

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:


Knowledge of state school attendance laws, and other pertinent laws regarding K-12 education;Familiarity with online learning environment;Strong organizational and time management skills;Strong communication and interpersonal skills;Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.);Strong ability to build rapport with students and families from diverse backgrounds.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Commitment to student success and equity.
Ability to travel 10% of the time;Ability to pass required background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Three (3) years of experience working with families in similar capacity, enrollment or truancyPost-secondary degree especially in Education, Counseling, Human Services or related field of study
