SUMMARY:

The Nurse Practitioner focuses on ambulatory care in a correctional setting, while the Physician Assistant collaborates with healthcare professionals to deliver basic medical services under the supervision of a licensed Physician.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Respond to and manage medical emergencies in the facility
  • Identify and treat patient health issues under a physician's guidance
  • Deliver medical care following approved therapeutic regimens
  • Provide education to inmates, medical staff, and correctional personnel
  • Document all healthcare interactions
  • Adhere to safety and security protocols, including infection control practices
  • Supervise team members and delegate tasks appropriately
  • Attend required training and meetings

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate from an accredited NP / PA program
  • Hold current licenses or certifications valid in the state of employment
  • Experience in Correctional setting preferred
  • Maintain necessary annual licensure and credentials
