JOB SUMMARY
The main purpose of this role is to provide legal services for the City of Roswell, protect the City from potential litigation, and offer legal advice and support. This includes interpreting laws and regulations, drafting legal documents, managing legal matters, and representing the City in litigation.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Supervise, direct, and evaluate staff, resolving employee concerns, and directing work assignments.
- Coordinate daily activities, prioritize work, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and provide legal advice.
- Conduct legal research, provide legal opinions, and draft various legal documents.
- Represent the City in litigation cases and oversee legal matters.
- Respond to citizen complaints and other public communications.
- Provide legal guidance to different City departments and officials.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a Juris Doctorate degree and at least three years of relevant experience in law practice, including municipal and employment law. Must hold a valid Georgia Driver's License and State Bar of Georgia Law License.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of municipal law, legal procedures, and courtroom processes.
- Ability to prepare legal documents, lead a team, and analyze complex legal issues.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This job requires light physical effort with some lifting, carrying, and prolonged periods at a workstation. It also involves communication and visual perception skills.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically conducted in a standard office setting without adverse environmental conditions.
