Primary Function:

The Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction is a vital leadership position responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing the secondary curriculum and instructional programs within SCCPSS.

This role focuses on ensuring high-quality, standards-aligned instruction that supports student achievement and prepares students for college, career, and beyond.

Under the guidance of the Chief Academic Officer, the Director of Secondary Curriculum and Instruction coordinates the execution of the curriculum with the Office of School Leadership.

Supplement Work Days: 250
Days Requirements: 1.

Education:
Education Specialist degree in education from an accredited college or university or a Master's degree in educational leadership from an accredited college or university

Preferred:
Earned doctorate 2.

Experience, Skill, and Certification:
Required: At least 3 years of school level administrative/leadership experience. Georgia Professional Standards Commission Tier I or Tier II Educational Leadership Certificate. Willingness and ability to work collaboratively with all members of the Academic Affairs leadership team and colleagues. Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of staff and the general public, both verbally and in writing.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and sustain positive, effective work relationships with staff and the general public.

Flexibility to work effectively both independently and in teams, with a proven ability to work with various stakeholders to reach consensus.

Knowledge and experience with academic intervention options. Sophisticated organizational skills Proficiency with various forms of technology and various software platforms and Internet database.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Evaluate content specialists as assigned

Preferred:
Experience in a large urban system characterized by multi-ethnic and cultural diversity Knowledge and/or coursework in special education

Essential Duties:
Lead the development, evaluation, and alignment of curriculum, ensuring it meets state standards, district goals, and best practices. Collaborate with content specialists, teachers, and school leadership to design rigorous and engaging curriculum materials. Provide instructional leadership and support to secondary school leadership and teachers.

In collaboration with the Office of School Leadership support classroom observations, through providing feedback, and offering professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices.

Analyze assessment data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement in student performance Plan and facilitate professional development opportunities for secondary school staff focused on instructional strategies, curriculum implementation, and assessment practices.

Stay abreast of current research and best practices in curriculum development and instructional technology. Support schools in the effective implementation of curriculum and instructional strategies. Collaborate with school leaders to address challenges and provide solutions to improve student outcomes. Collaborate with district senior leadership, school leaders, and teachers to align curriculum goals with district strategic priorities. Manage the budget for secondary curriculum and instruction, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to support strategic priorities. Identify and recommend instructional materials, technology, and resources to enhance teaching and learning. Facilitate and support collaboration among secondary school instructional staff to foster collaboration and continuous improvement. Encourage the use of data-driven decision-making to improve student outcomes.

(NONE) TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Incumbents will receive an annual contract. The work calendar will be 250 days.

Salary will be determined based on the level of certification and allowable experience on the 229 Principal Scale + Supplement.
