Job Opening Summary:

The medical assistant provides patient care in a physician's office setting under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician.

Clinical skills performed are within the scope of a medical assistant as defined by Florida Statutes and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure.

The MA may also perform clerical, insurance and medical record functions. May be required to float to other UFHP practices, as needed, for staffing.


The health technician participates in the care of patients in a physician office setting by measuring and recording vital signs, placing patients in rooms, completing simple tasks to prepare patients for exams/procedures, and providing patient/family support.

The health technician assists the nursing staff and health care provider during exams when necessary. Performs clinic-specific technical skills.

Medical Assistant

  • One year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred.
  • Person should display initiative, have the ability to multitask, and be able to assume additional responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to problem solve and be a team member is essential.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Must possess and maintain current certification or registration as a medical assistant.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) required or must be obtained within first ninety days of employment. Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR). Licensure must be secured through the AHA or Red Cross

Health Technician

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • State of Florida CNA certification or current nursing student preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) is required or must be obtained within the first month of employment.
  • Person should display initiative, have the ability to multitask, and be able to take on responsibilities.
  • Proven ability to problem solve and be a team member is essential.
  • Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
  • Must complete clinicspecific training requirements and demonstrate competency of these to UFP nurse education team.

Licensure/Certification/Registration:

  • Basic Life Support (CPR) is required or must be obtained within the first month of employment.
Must maintain current Basic Life Support (CPR).

Salary:

Medical assistant pay grade SHN 8: Minimum $18.82/hour - Midpoint $22.84/hour

Health technician pay grade SHN 4: Minimum $16.32/hour - Midpoint $18.31/hour

Shift hours:8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday
