Role

Monday - Friday

An education support class position will perform tasks under supervision and direction, according to guidelines, accepted practice, and school policy. Including coordination of other education support class staff within the work area.

This role supports educational services provided to students, but must not include duties of a teacher as defined by the Education and Training Reform Act 2006 (Vic) or its successor.

Certification and/or qualifications of up to three years may be required at this level.

Responsibilities of a role at this range may include:

  • Specific support tasks to achieve outcomes
  • Assisting teachers in educational programs
  • Supervised health and wellbeing support tasks
  • Technical tasks that require knowledge of basic technical and scientific principles

An education support class position at this range will initially involve routine tasks under close supervision. Progression to more independent tasks may occur with experience.

Responsibilities
  • Assist students in specific learning areas
  • Help with communication between students and teachers
  • Provide basic care for students
  • Participate in team meetings
  • Assist with various student activities and support
  • Prepare resources and equipment
  • Support teaching programs by setting up materials
  • Observe and report on student behavior
  • Assist in program monitoring and evaluation
  • Support communication with non-English speaking parents/students
  • Assist in document translation
  • Help with meal preparation for students
  • Maintain cleanliness and readiness of work areas and materials
  • Assist with equipment preparation and purchasing of materials
  • Perform First Aid and Sick bay duties as needed
