TERMS OF

EMPLOYMENT: 10 Months Elementary /10.5 Months High School

PAY FACTOR: 1.125 Elementary /1.175 High School

JOB GOAL: To lead the district in creating an organization of one, increasing student achievement and establishing school community relationships. Domains and Components will be used for Guidance Counselor evaluation in conjunction with measures of student growth. Measures of student growth will be aligned with the Iberville Parish School System's accountability measures as outlined in the Louisiana Accountability System.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Collaborates with school administration in planning, designing and implementing the school-counseling program.
  • Provides counseling for students.
  • Assists students in exploring career awareness and development.
  • Registers students new to the school and orients them to school procedures and the school's varied opportunities for learning.
  • Maintains and interprets cumulative records on students and protects their confidentiality.
  • Assists in placement of students.
  • Aids students in course and subject selection.
  • Works to prevent students from dropping out of schools.
  • Works to resolve students' educational handicaps.
  • Works to discover and develop special abilities of students.
  • Maintains an up-to-date file on community resources and refers students to appropriate service agencies.
  • Student advocate and member of system support teams.
  • Plans, organizes and delivers the school counseling program.
  • Collects and compiles student data.
  • Assists in analyzing student data.
  • Monitors the students on a regular basis as they progress in school.
  • Ensures all student transcripts are updated.
  • Ensures Core 4 students have courses needed as outlined by current graduation requirements.
  • Makes recommendations to colleges for admissions and scholarships
  • Arranges for tutors and summer school work.
  • Guides students in their participation in school and community activities.
  • Creates and maintains a 5 year plan/IGP on all students beginning in 8th grade through their senior year.
  • Obtains and disseminates occupational information to students and to classes studying occupations.
  • Help students evaluate career interests and choices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the proper authority.
PROFESSIONAL ETHICS
  • Maintains good attendance.
  • Notifies principal of absences and provides substitute teachers with lesson plans.
  • Reports to work on time.
  • Reports to duty on time and is responsible for students at all times.
  • Students are never left unattended.
  • Displays professional ethics on and off duty.
  • Adheres to all Iberville Parish School Board's Policies
  • Reports to job-related injuries within 48 hours of work accident to the immediate supervisor.
  • Assists the principal in day-to-day operation of the school.
  • Accepts and supports school administration decisions.
  • Practices school rules and policies.
  • Completes reports, inventories, and paper work including cumulative records as scheduled.
  • Assumes responsibility for implementation of emergency procedures.
  • Encourages parents/care givers to become active partners in their children's education and to become involved in school.
  • Seeks and maintains a positive attitude of promoting school and community relations.
  • Participates in and promotes harmonious working relationships with students, colleagues, parents and community members.
  • Attends and participates in school meetings and faculty meetings (i.e. grade level and subject area curriculum planning and evaluation) promptly and as required.
  • Serves on task force and decision-making committees, when appropriate.
  • Cooperates with administrators in observation/evaluation/self-evaluation efforts.
  • Develops and implements an Individual Growth Plan annually.
  • Keeps abreast of current educational trends through staff development and professional organizations.
