Job Summary:

As a Low Bed Truck Driver at Peckham Industries, you will be responsible for transporting heavy machinery and oversized loads using a low bed trailer. Your role involves ensuring safety compliance, navigating challenging routes efficiently, and delivering equipment to various job sites promptly.



Essential Functions:

  • Committed to serve: Operate a low bed truck for transporting equipment to job sites.
  • Protect family and friends: Securely load and unload equipment following safety protocols.
  • Efficiency: Inspect and maintain truck and trailer for optimal performance.
  • Safety always wins: Plan routes, meet delivery schedules, and obey traffic laws.
  • Ownership and caring: Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections, reporting any issues.
  • Results matter: Maintain accurate delivery records including working hours and mileage.
  • Respect and engage: Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and team members.
  • Obligated: Adhere to company safety, maintenance, and operational policies.
  • Focused: Assist in rigging and securing loads as required.
  • Dedication: Perform minor truck maintenance and repairs.


Requirements, Education and Experience:

  • CDL Class A with DOT medical certificate.
  • Minimum 5 years of heavy truck driving experience, preferably in low bed or heavy equipment transport.
  • Knowledge of state and federal transportation regulations.
  • Clean driving record with no recent violations.
  • Ability to operate various heavy equipment for loading and unloading.
  • Mechanical aptitude for minor truck maintenance.
  • Strong coordination, awareness, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in verbal and written English.
  • Legal right to work in the U.S.

Travel:

Regular travel within New York state and New England using company vehicles.



Work Environment/Physical Demands:

This role involves heavy lifting, working near moving parts, and loud equipment in a construction setting. Requires physical endurance and various movements.
