Under general supervision, this role is responsible for conducting pulmonary function tests to gather data on patients' respiratory processes, aiding physicians in diagnosing and treating pulmonary disorders.
Primary Responsibilities:- Pulmonary Function Testing:
- Schedule tests, correctly bill procedures, collect relevant clinical information, and perform clerical tasks
- Administer various pulmonary function tests, including:
- - Spirometry with flow volume loops (pre and post bronchodilator)
- - Maximum voluntary ventilation
- - Lung volumes (nitrogen washout method)
- - Single breath diffusion (DLCO)
- - Oximetry (rest and exercise)
- Administer bronchodilator treatments using nebulizer and inhaler
- Set-up, calibrate, troubleshoot, sanitize, and maintain pulmonary function lab equipment
- Evaluate test reliability, patient performance, and clinical implications
- Ensure result validity through detailed data analysis following professional and lab standards
- Produce precise and timely study reports for physician review
- Maintain detailed records of all studies and related activities
- Train staff in conducting pulmonary function tests
- Clarify procedures to patients and gain their cooperation
- Manage supplies inventory
- Communicate with the technical, medical, and interdisciplinary teams
- Adhere to safety and infection control protocols

Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma and either:
- - 2 years of clinical experience in pulmonary technology; or
- - 62 semester hours of college credit with specific course requirements and 1 year of clinical experience in pulmonary technology; or
- - Completion of an approved program in Respiratory Therapy and 6 months of clinical experience in pulmonary technology; or
- - Current CPFT or RPFT certification by the NBRC
- - Ability to work specific days and hours at Smokey Point and Everett locations
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3 years of experience in pulmonary function and diagnostic testing
Washington Residents Only: The hourly pay range for Washington residents is $22.45 to $43.89. Compensation is based on factors like education, experience, and certifications.
