Senior Reliability Engineer I Position at Biogen

  • The Senior Reliability Engineer I applies engineering methodologies to optimize design requirements and performance of critical assets across the site.
  • Originate and develop analysis methods for determining reliability of components, equipment, and processes.
  • Acquire data and analyze it to define reliability problems, recommend improvements, and avoid failures.

This role collaborates with responsible engineers, maintenance, operations, quality, project engineers, and other stakeholders to establish and execute reliability strategies throughout the Asset Life-Cycle.

Champions and utilizes reliability tools such as Failure Mode and Effect Criticality Analysis, Reliability Modeling and Prediction, Reliability Growth, Maintainability, Availability, and Root Cause Failure Analysis.

What You'll Do

- Perform detailed analyses of site manufacturing and utilities process equipment to establish and implement reliability strategies (RCM) minimizing failures or their impact cost-effectively.

- Establish and manage Reliability KPIs for continuous improvement.

- Work with Planner/Schedulers and Parts-room Attendants to align Job Plans and Spares strategies with Reliability strategies based on risk.

- Consult with project teams and Responsible Engineers to set reliability targets early in the life-cycle of new equipment and establish measurable performance criteria to achieve those targets.

- Lead or assist in Root Cause Analyses and failure investigations to support deviations or safety events.

- Collaborate across site functions to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations.

- Introduce state-of-the-art tools to enhance the site's Reliability program.

- Collaborate with other sites and Global functions to set corporate standards and best practices in Reliability Engineering.


Qualifications

B.S. in Engineering or related discipline with 4-6 years of manufacturing experience.

Experience leading Root Cause Failure Analyses, Criticality Assessments, FMEAs, reliability modeling, growth analysis, and allocation.

Competency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Project, Mini-Tab, JMP, or other Statistical analysis platforms, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

Assignments are moderately complex, requiring the ability to recognize deviations from accepted practice. Judgment is needed to resolve problems and make routine recommendations.


Preferred Qualifications

Experience in pharmaceutical or biotech manufacturing.

Practical knowledge and application of GMP and EMEA regulations.

Certification as a Reliability Engineer or Maintenance and Reliability Professional.
