About the job


In this role, under the general supervision of a radiologist, and in accordance with department protocols, the Lead ultrasound Technologist utilizes high frequency sound waves and other diagnostic techniques to produce and evaluate ultrasound images and related data which is used by physicians in rendering a medical diagnosis resulting in quality patient care.

Performs ultrasound procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Performs technical procedures that require independent judgement, ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed sonographic images for diagnosis.

The Lead Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for the US technologist staff coordination, directing, and implementing of the patient care delivery of US procedures in the section of their management designate.

Works in conjunction with the Director of Medical Imaging services.

What you will do

  • Performs and demonstrates competence in ultrasonic scanning procedures by producing, assessing and evaluating ultrasound images and related data that are used by physicians to render a medical diagnosis
  • Recognizing, identifying and appropriately documenting normal anatomy, abnormalities, disease, pathology and pathophysiology for accurate medical diagnosis.
  • Performing all types of ultrasound procedures and services, in accordance with department protocol, to ensure appropriate patient care for patients in all age categories (neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).

Here's what you'll need

Required:

  • Associate degree or bachelor's degree
  • Graduate of an "
    accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonographer program " Program accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Specific Degree(s): AAS in a Sonographer program
  • 3-5 years of previous job-related experience- Medical Imaging
  • Ability to work and lead a team

Licensure/Certifications

Required:

  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (ARDMS)
  • CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) from the American Heart association only
